I would like to provide the reports for the fiscal year 2011 and 2012 as well as some public relations information from the Educational/Research Committee for the fiscal year 2013.

  1. 1.Uchiyama Memorial Award

    The original articles published in “Japanese Journal of Behavior Therapy” are subjected to the annual selection for the Uchiyama Memorial Award run by the Japanese Association of Behavior Therapy (JABT). For 2011 and 2012, the articles below have been awarded the prize following voting and deliberation by the selection committee. Since 2012, articles eligible for this award have changed to both original articles and practical studies.

  2. 2.Workshop at Annual Convention

    In recent years, there has been a growing interest in behavior therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy among clinicians, and the desire for studying this subject has also continued to rise.
    The Annual Convention for 2012 took place at Ritsumeikan University from September 21 to 23, 2012, for which Masahiko Sugiyama (Psychology Consultation Office, Akatsuki Institute) served as the Chairman. At the Annual Convention, 28 workshops were organized and 1,043 people participated.
    For the Annual Convention 2013, Hiroaki Kumano (Faculty of Human Sciences, Waseda University) will serve as the Chairman, and it will be held at Teikyo Heisei University in Tokyo from August 23 to 25. This year, 36 workshops will be organized. “The 39th Annual Convention” will be held jointly with the annual conventions by other two academic associations, which are “The 4th Asian Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) Conference 2013 Tokyo,” and “The 13th Annual Convention of the Japanese Association for Cognitive Therapy.” Workshops are also open to non-members. Please feel free to invite non-members to participate in these workshops.

  3. 3.Behavior Therapy Colloquiums

    The Behavior Therapy Colloquium for 2012 entitled “Behavior Therapy Colloquium 2012 in Shinshu Utsukushigahara” was held from February 9 to 11, 2013 with Hironori Shimada (Faculty of Human Sciences, Waseda University) serving as the Chairman for organizing the colloquium.
    The Behavior Therapy Colloquium for 2013 will be held in Kyoto from March 14 to 16, 2014 with Shinji Tani (Graduate School for Science for Human Services, Ritsumeikan University) acting as Chairman in organizing the event. Further details will be announced on the JABT website as soon as they are available. We encourage all members to participate in the Colloquium.
